Did you ever wake up one morning – only to think you’ve been a sleep for the past decade? Well, some days, that’s me. And….just when I kick into high gear and think I have finally caught up to the rest of the world….and just when I finally think I have mastered what I need to know, I realize there is some new technology and application that I didn’t even know existed…. yet again. But really that’s what is so exciting about this internet and global online world we live and work in. There will always be something new and exciting to learn. So get out your whip, give your wrist that deadly “flick” and master what you need to know.
For me, learning and mastering the in’s and out’s of search engine optimization has become a fabulous game of divide and conquer. I enjoy trying and employing numerous strategies and (although I am always slightly amazed at how well a strategy might work), the game never ends. It can’t or we would all have our business names ranked number one in the search engines now wouldn’t we? So one can’t become complacent about such things can they! However, it is a game you can learn (if you have the time and inclination ….and….well….stamina)! Search engine optimization is a game of strategy but it also involves time so if you are up for the challenge, it can and will work to your advantage. But remember, SEO is just one piece of the internet marketing process. There are numerous other critical elements as well, including thoughtful and focused branding, carefully designed website wording and design, well researched and high impact affiliate and/or linkage building, regular website updating, directory submissions, well planned and well written press releases and the list goes on.
There are countless articles, blogs, podcasts, and videos out there to help maximize your potential, not to mention several great books….but if you find yourself in that unfortunate position of losing ground in the search engine ranking…. but too busy to do something about it, do yourself a favour this Christmas, give yourself the best gift of all and outsource this critical component to your personal Virtual Assistant or Marketing Assistant.
