What you will primarily find on this blog site, is biz information about various topics. Some will be designed to arm you with information and strategies…, others will be designed to enlighten you a little further on things you may already know something about….,and then other blogs will share a viewpoint on a topic of interest, the trials and rewards of running a small business, and perhaps a thank you to authors, trainers, and other bloggers who have helped educate me along the way. As with any blog, it is primarily designed to enlighten and entertain. Who am I? My name is Amanda. I live in beautiful Central Ontario (in Canada). Having lived in a number of towns and cities thoughout Alberta and Ontario over the past 20 years, I find living close to the lakes and Muskoka area a refreshing a tranquil place to be.
Currently, I am a Records and Information Manager in government but as of August 2008, I decided to change the direction of my future so opened my Virtual doors and dove hard and fast into the business industry of Virtual Assistants and don’t intend to look back. I chose this opportune time as I have two post-secondary age children who are making their own way in this world and I now have a lot more time to focus on building something new and exciting. Most of all, I like the idea of staying connected with the entire world through the use of technology and expanding the otherwise small world that many of us live in. For those who may consider my services and YOU DEFINITELY SHOULD – WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??….my career spans 21 years in the corporate sector, working with private industry, project management firms, the health care sector, and 16 years in various government positions working in both administrative support and management capacities. Being that I am a Records and Information Manager, I am organized by nature. Bonus for those clients who need some organization in their professional life.
My educational background spans a period almost as long as my career – about 18 years of ongoing learning – ranging from Office Administration (years ago) to ongoing post-secondary education in Marketing, Risk Management, Human Resources Management and most recently, training in web design and Internet Marketing. Professional training aside, some of my best learning experiences have came from reading blogs and resources on the net, learning about the various applications and doing (over and over) until I get it right.
On a personal level, I enjoy a lot of things. I love hitting the gym a few times a week (some of my best ideas come from this activity), reading anything and everything that will either help me grow personally or professionally (so a little hooked on self-help…or as I choose to call them…self improvement! and hey, we all have a room for a little improvement). I also enjoy travelling, hanging out with my two beautiful, though somewhat grown, children and socializing with friends and family.
The best part of life, however, is when you learn something new so thank you to everyone who writes in these forums and helps to open up our viewpoints and contributes (in some way) to our everyday experience.
